Where Are the $24 Billion Going?
Results from a recent Vox Populi survey reveal that our followers support reducing plastic waste, not only in their daily lives but also in the workplace.
The July #VoxPopuli survey was dedicated to the initiative Plastic Free July. This is a global movement aimed at helping people reduce plastic waste and adopt more eco-friendly habits.
The goal of the survey was to find out how familiar our social media followers are with this initiative, what they think about implementing it in the workplace, and whether they plan to reduce the usage of single-use plastics in their day-to-day lives.
A majority of our followers (56 %) on Instagram are not familiar with the concept of Plastic Free July, so it’s not surprising that 88 % of the participants in the survey stated that they had never attempted to implement it. Slightly over half of the Instagram followers (53 %) believe that it is possible to live without plastic, while this belief is held by significantly more respondents on LinkedIn, with over two-thirds of them sharing this view.
The positive aspect is that 88 % of the followers stated that they plan to reduce their use of single-use plastics. This decision is evident in their answers to the following questions. Only 27 % of them buy water in plastic bottles every day, and just 26 % use plastic straws. Regarding the use of single-use bags in stores, the opinions of the respondents are divided. Exactly 50 % of them said that they use single-use plastic bags. When it comes to using coffee tumblers, 58 % of the followers stated that they drink coffee from a thermos, while 42 % do not.
The majority of our followers (67 %) do not drink water from water dispensers at work, but 83 % order food. On Instagram, 71 % of the participants stated that they take measures to reduce plastic waste at work, while on LinkedIn, 58 % do so. In conclusion, the majority of the followers believe that Plastic Free July should be introduced into workplace (71 % of the respondents on Instagram and 100 % on LinkedIn).
