How would you describe Dialog\u2019s evolution, and was there a specific turning point over the years?<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"671\" data-end=\"1047\"><span style=\"color: #800000\"><strong data-start=\"671\" data-end=\"681\">Marina<\/strong>:<\/span> My journey in public relations began in 1993 at Ogilvy in Prague. I was doing my postgraduate studies in communication at Charles University, and I got the job mostly because I spoke fluent English. Those were intense days\u201412-hour workdays and constant learning. I\u2019m still grateful to my first mentor, Vanda Wolfov\u00e1, who taught me the fundamentals of the industry.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1049\" data-end=\"1556\">Two years later, I returned to Croatia and joined BBDO. Initially, I worked in advertising because there wasn\u2019t much demand for PR yet. Our first PR project was pro bono\u2014for American Express and a charity golf tournament. It took about three years for the market to catch up, at which point we established a PR department that later evolved into Dialog in 2000. At the time, BBDO was the majority owner, and I\u2019m grateful they recognized the moment to invest in a specialized PR agency and partnered with me.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1558\" data-end=\"2026\">Ten years later, I took over full ownership and signed an exclusive agreement with the global network Ketchum, which we still represent in Croatia today. Another milestone was launching DIABLOG in 2016\u2014the first Croatian conference dedicated to bloggers and content creators. During the pandemic, we co-founded <em data-start=\"1869\" data-end=\"1884\">The Green Hub<\/em>, a platform for sustainable business, and in 2022, we launched <em data-start=\"1948\" data-end=\"1969\">Central Point Adria<\/em>, a regional communications hub, with partners in Serbia.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2028\" data-end=\"2165\">All of these were pivotal growth moments. If I had to sum up our 25 years, I\u2019d say it\u2019s been driven by two things: passion and curiosity.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2172\" data-end=\"2347\"><span style=\"color: #800000\"><strong data-start=\"2172\" data-end=\"2183\">Mamager<\/strong>:<\/span> You started your PR career when the industry in Croatia was still developing. Was it harder back then or now, in a much more fast-paced and developed environment?<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2349\" data-end=\"2526\"><span style=\"color: #800000\"><strong data-start=\"2349\" data-end=\"2359\">Marina<\/strong>:<\/span> It might sound like a clich\u00e9, but it\u2019s never been \u201chard\u201d for me because I love what I do. The challenges were\u2014and still are\u2014different, but also similar in some ways.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2528\" data-end=\"2900\">Then and now, continuous education is key\u2014for yourself and for the market. You have to find creative ways to reach audiences, stay on top of the media landscape, social trends, consumer behavior, competition, technology&#8230; Sure, things move faster today, but we also have tools now that help us track and manage that pace. It\u2019s exciting to work in such a dynamic industry.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2907\" data-end=\"3084\"><span style=\"color: #800000\"><strong data-start=\"2907\" data-end=\"2918\">Mamager<\/strong>:<\/span> You founded and lead DIABLOG, Croatia\u2019s first conference focused on influencer marketing. What current trends are dominating the space\u2014and which ones are overrated?<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3086\" data-end=\"3380\"><span style=\"color: #800000\"><strong data-start=\"3086\" data-end=\"3096\">Marina<\/strong>:<\/span> We&#8217;re seeing a strong shift toward long-term collaborations and micro-influencers. They tend to have more authentic influence within their communities than large-scale influencers. There\u2019s also growing interest in influencers who are socially conscious and vocal about their values.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3382\" data-end=\"3834\">In terms of platforms, TikTok continues to grow, especially with new content formats where video dominates. Automation is another big trend\u2014faster analytics, reporting tools, etc. At Dialog, we ran nearly 50 influencer campaigns across two markets last year and worked with over 200 creators. That scale would\u2019ve been unthinkable just a couple of years ago. Speed is increasing, but strategy\u2014choosing the right influencer for the brand\u2014remains crucial.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3841\" data-end=\"4024\"><span style=\"color: #800000\"><strong data-start=\"3841\" data-end=\"3852\">Mamager<\/strong>:<\/span> Some say audiences are experiencing \u201cinfluencer fatigue,\u201d and the \u201cde-influencing\u201d trend is on the rise. What\u2019s the future of influencer marketing in brand PR strategies?<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4026\" data-end=\"4365\"><span style=\"color: #800000\"><strong data-start=\"4026\" data-end=\"4036\">Marina<\/strong>:<\/span> Influencer marketing will still command a significant portion of marketing budgets, though for the first time, we\u2019re seeing signs that growth might slow this year. Brands are increasingly demanding measurable ROI and a strategic approach\u2014they\u2019re investing where there\u2019s a clear link to sales, engagement, or customer retention.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4372\" data-end=\"4468\"><span style=\"color: #800000\"><strong data-start=\"4372\" data-end=\"4383\">Mamager<\/strong>:<\/span> What do you wish young professionals understood better before starting a PR career?<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4470\" data-end=\"4688\"><span style=\"color: #800000\"><strong data-start=\"4470\" data-end=\"4480\">Marina<\/strong>:<\/span> That PR is serious work requiring consistency, strategic thinking, creativity, and curiosity. It\u2019s about great ideas\u2014but also about building relationships and understanding that overnight success is a myth.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4695\" data-end=\"4885\"><span style=\"color: #800000\"><strong data-start=\"4695\" data-end=\"4706\">Mamager<\/strong>:<\/span> A 25-year-old agency clearly has strong vision and culture. How did you build Dialog\u2019s company culture\u2014and what&#8217;s more important for long-term success: strategy or adaptability?<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4887\" data-end=\"5109\"><span style=\"color: #800000\"><strong data-start=\"4887\" data-end=\"4897\">Marina<\/strong>:<\/span> You can\u2019t survive long-term without both. You need a vision for where you&#8217;re going, but also the flexibility to adapt to market trends, tools, communication channels, client expectations, and workforce culture.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"5111\" data-end=\"5419\">At Dialog, we\u2019ve built a culture based on values I learned early on: professionalism, transparency, integrity, and work above all. I don\u2019t care when people log in or come to the office\u2014but the work has to be done, on time and to a high standard. We don\u2019t cut corners. It always shows, and it never ends well.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"5421\" data-end=\"5932\">We have well-defined internal procedures and processes for each client. New hires are expected to master these quickly because they reduce errors and save time. I value discipline and dedication, but also great team energy, open communication, and a culture of collaboration. We constantly challenge each other to improve. That\u2019s how we grow. And we have fun doing it\u2014we celebrate birthdays, milestones, holidays, wins, awards&#8230; We even have weekly team lunches. I wouldn\u2019t trade that environment for anything.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"5939\" data-end=\"5992\"><span style=\"color: #800000\"><strong data-start=\"5939\" data-end=\"5950\">Mamager<\/strong>:<\/span> What\u2019s one PR myth you\u2019d love to debunk?<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"5994\" data-end=\"6221\"><span style=\"color: #800000\"><strong data-start=\"5994\" data-end=\"6004\">Marina<\/strong>:<\/span> That PR is just media relations. It never was. Today, it\u2019s more about strategic consulting, reputation management, internal communications, content production, creative campaigns, and of course\u2014influencer marketing.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"6228\" data-end=\"6323\"><span style=\"color: #800000\"><strong data-start=\"6228\" data-end=\"6239\">Mamager<\/strong>:<\/span> If you were launching an agency today from scratch, what would you do differently?<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"6325\" data-end=\"6510\"><span style=\"color: #800000\"><strong data-start=\"6325\" data-end=\"6335\">Marina<\/strong>:<\/span> I\u2019d do more in-depth market research, define our positioning more precisely, and surround myself with a strong team that can handle today\u2019s fast-moving business environment.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"6517\" data-end=\"6589\"><span style=\"color: #800000\"><strong data-start=\"6517\" data-end=\"6528\">Mamager<\/strong>:<\/span> What\u2019s the most unexpected business decision that paid off?<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"6591\" data-end=\"6719\"><span style=\"color: #800000\"><strong data-start=\"6591\" data-end=\"6601\">Marina<\/strong>:<\/span> I\u2019ve always planned and thought things through carefully, so I wouldn\u2019t say anything truly unexpected ever happened.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"6726\" data-end=\"6785\"><span style=\"color: #800000\"><strong data-start=\"6726\" data-end=\"6737\">Mamager<\/strong>:<\/span> If you weren\u2019t in PR, what would you be doing?<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"6787\" data-end=\"6823\"><span style=\"color: #800000\"><strong data-start=\"6787\" data-end=\"6797\">Marina<\/strong>:<\/span> Writing and translating.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"6830\" data-end=\"6900\"><span style=\"color: #800000\"><strong data-start=\"6830\" data-end=\"6841\">Mamager<\/strong>:<\/span> After 25 years in the business, what still surprises you?<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"6902\" data-end=\"7104\"><span style=\"color: #800000\"><strong data-start=\"6902\" data-end=\"6912\">Marina<\/strong>:<\/span> The lack of preparedness in some situations, a lack of transparency in negotiations, and unethical behavior. Preparation, transparency, and ethics should be the foundation of our profession.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"7111\" data-end=\"7191\"><span style=\"color: #800000\"><strong data-start=\"7111\" data-end=\"7122\">Mamager<\/strong>:<\/span> If you could change one thing about the industry, what would it be?<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"7193\" data-end=\"7483\"><span style=\"color: #800000\"><strong data-start=\"7193\" data-end=\"7203\">Marina<\/strong>:<\/span> I\u2019d like to see clients compensate agencies for their effort in pitches. I don\u2019t think they realize how much time, energy, and resources go into preparing strategies and concepts for potential clients.
