Since introducing Reel in 2020, Instagram has been continuously changing the game’s rules and becoming a platform for creating and sharing video content. Allowing creators to express themselves creatively through various tools and achieve greater reach, enables users to consume content that interests and entertains them easily.
To make a good Instagram Reel video, you don’t need to be a professional in creating video content. A little creativity and a few useful tricks that we bring you below are enough.
Try to be as creative and original as possible!
Just like in everything, if you want to stand out, you must be creative and original when creating content for Reel. Before making each video, think carefully about the main message you want to convey and in what way. The Reel is primarily visual content, so it is essential to find a pleasing aesthetic (mood) that you can achieve with the choice of music, filter and dynamics of the scenes that will alternate. Without inspiration, it is undoubtedly good to use trending examples and add your twist to them. Please don’t overdo it with filters!
Keep attention in the first few seconds!
The first few seconds are essential! Just realize how fast we browse our feed and how many videos we skip after the first second. When creating a video, make it clear what it is about in the first few frames to keep the user’s attention and watch your Reel to the end. Viewing time is a crucial factor affecting a particular reel’s success. Therefore the first frames must be visually attractive and worthy of attention.
Find the optimal video length
Since this type of content has become popular on social networks, our concentration decreases significantly while watching longer video content and users generally prefer shorter forms. The maximum length of an Instagram Reel is 90 seconds, while video content on TikTok can last up to 10 minutes. It is essential to consider that somebody will potentially see a shorter Reel more than once, which automatically signals to the algorithm that it is content worth watching and will market it to more users. Of course, the length of the video depends on the type of content and the messages you want to communicate, so test the ideal size until you find the one that is optimal for your audience.
Practice video editing
Although you don’t need to be a professional video editor, it’s good to have a feel for the dynamics and format of the video. Ensure that your frames and scenes last briefly and change according to the background music. If you decide to add music to your Reel, a simple trick that will make the editing process more manageable is choosing the background music and arranging the frames that will alternate according to it. Somebody can insert photos and video clips into the Instagram Reel, but it is better to use only video clips for the sake of dynamics.
Follow the trends!
Instagram trends come and go quickly, so it’s essential to recognize the moment and jump on the right train. Use popular trends and hashtags, as this will significantly increase the visibility of your Reel. To better understand trends, staying up-to-date and following what’s happening on TikTok and Instagram is essential. The goal is either to be the first to set the trend or to be among the first to jump, so don’t be afraid to experiment and try new ideas!
